whew! been a while since i last posted here.. been tied up with a lotta stuff lately.. =]
first off... I GOT ACCEPTED AT F&H!!! passed my resume bout 2 weeks ago. they called me up for an interview days after.. i was so friggin' nervous! i managed ta scrounge up some of my works for a portfolio, and off i went one morning. the office is located in roces, quezon ave. (which is miles and miles away from makati, thank god..) the interview was scheduled for 2pm, and, as always, i was running late. i boarded a cab in monumento, and had ta bribe the driver ta speed up his driving. fortunately, i got there 2:10 (hey, it beats getting to work about an hour and a half late. old habits die hard.. lol) i got to the gate, and patiently waited while the guard buzzed me in. she told me to wait by the gate while miss veron, my soon-to-be-boss who will give the interview finishes up something.. i hurriedly took a stick of lights and lighted it. the smooth nicotine that flowed through my dry throat soothed my frayed nerves a bit. after a while, manang guard told me ta go in. as i opened the door, i saw a lot of people inside.. some of them bill collectors.. others fellow applicants. miss veron greeted me with a polite smile and told me to follow her to the conference room. i cautiously made my way to the door of, careful not to step on any toes along the way. i'm pretty sure the people there could hear my every heartbeat. once inside, i fumbled through my bag for my CD folio (which i did in powerpoint, with loads of help from sweepea) and some of my sample works from XAX.. miss v (as kabbie calls her) motioned for me to sit down, which i did nervously. if she noticed my hands and knees shaking, she din't show it. she got out a copy of my resume and started. basically she just asked me stuff about my present work, what software i use, and my fashion know-how.. now, i don't claim ta be a fashion guru, but i have a *ehem* sense of style, so i guess i did pretty well. she seemed ta like my answers and my folio too, which made me relax. a bit. sir allan, another boss-to-be, came in and looked at my folio, and told miss v. he wanted to interview me too. he was more scary than miss v.. he looked kinda too serious to me.. oh well. i din't expect him ta slap me on the back like an old buddy anyways. my interview with him went well too, i may say. he asked me ta stay for the obligatory exam, which kinda caught me off guard. "kabbie din't say anything bout a test after!!!", i thought. i managed a weak "of course sir". the incessant pounding of my heart suddenly audible again. stay calm. you can do this. sir allan asked me ta make an end-of-season sale poster, men's and women's shirt designs, and a pocket flasher (those cardboard thingies that are sewn on a new pair of pants) i looked at the clock: 3:30pm.. can i finish? sir allan waved goodbye as i got to work. i din't know where ta start! plus, the damn computer kept on hanging at first. and there weren't enough images. or maybe i was just nervous and i had artist's block (hey, it can happen!) i was able ta finish 2 shirt designs for males and females, but i was discontented. i was worried they wouldn't like my work. hell, even i din't like it! i was doin' the poster when i saw miss v.'s head peek through the cubicle. "finished?", she asked in a noncommital tone. i slowly shook my head while doing the best puppy-dog-look i could muster. "all i could finish were the shirt designs miss. pangit pa. pangit!", i blurted out. she gave me a semi sympathetic look and said "you wanna take it home? or come back on monday na lang?" i was relieved! i swear, i heard a choir of angels when she said that. i mumbled a quiet "okay, thanks" and stood up, promising to email the test in a day or two. later on, kabbie told me they were prolly interested because she never saw anyone who was given a test right after the interview, and got to take it home too! despite my apprehension earlier, i felt a tiny surge of confidence. they were interested! hahaha!!! i texted kitty, and the four of us (kab, kitty, me and kel) met up at SM north and watched white chicks (which i din't find at all funny, save for that football player who sang "a thousand miles". crazy.) we enjoyed dinner at KFC after (the salad was absolutely loh-ve-lay!) kel and i picked apart the movie, which he din't find funny as well, while kab and kitty kept defending the movie's merits, if there were any. curiously, both of them found the movie amusing. wuteva. oh well, i figgered. at least they're happy. i would just have to be content with my successful F&H day. =]
